White Phosphorous: Part II

The use of white phosphorus has stirred a great deal of controversy in the past few days. We mentioned it in an earlier post. It now appears that the U.S. did indeed use white phosphorus as Paul Reynolds of the BBC writes. The issue has since then been re-framed as to whether or not civilians were targeted, and no longer as to its usage. George Monbiot provides some excellent analysis as to what all this means and his earlier article headline sums it up best: “Yes, the US has used chemical weapons.” Perhaps the search for WMDs should have begun at home?
